I normally do not write text to accompany the images on this blog. Not even captions. Each post has a title, but only because the blogging software insists that this be so.

In fact, it is the first time I deviate from my routine. Things are exciting, as is apparent from the image. In more than one way. Our daughter and first child is about to be born. A few weeks ago I bought a Leica M6, a 26-year-old fully mechanical film camera. This image is from one of the first rolls of Kodak Tri-X I’ve run through the M6 and developed myself at home (using Rodinal, a developer patented in 1891). I have not developed film myself since my teenage years when I had access to a darkroom at school. I love the texture and tonality that black-and-white film images give and I was never able to emulate that look digitally. I won’t try anymore; the real thing is fun and very satisfying. Expect more.

  1. The photo pages are not rendering in Chrome, you may want to look into that. You’re almost a dad now, very exciting.

  2. I know. I looked into it a few weeks back. I decided it’s a Chrome problem. After all, the pages render fine in other WebKit-based browsers. Anyway, Chrome is evil.
